This model is heated by a mixture of water and glycol. It is an oily substance that diffuses the heat from the heating element and stops the liquid from freezing. The bottom bar will not be as hot as the top bar. This is due to the fact that thermal fluid convection is used to heat this unit. The bottom bar has been included for cosmetic reasons.
